I found these guys through their mastering engineer, Greg Calbi, who also mastered Talking Heads' "Fear Of Music" and "Remain In Light" (which were produced by Brian Eno).
The strings, the horns, the raw vocals and melodic ditties remind me of The Starlight Mints, one of my favorites.
