Another winning entry for Songfight! Sort of a fantasy of amnesia.

Tonamel provides vocals for the break (although he probably doesn't know it) which I dutifully reversed and pitch shifted for harmony. I was at a loss for lyrics until I stumbled across some supposedly "traditional" Polynesian sayings that I use as a base.

———————————————————————————————

a warrior dies in battle

climbers die on the cliff

gardeners die by aging

in the end they're all stiff

when fighters fall, another

will rise - a new name

fame in war is soon forgotten

but hunger remains

honeymoon in the garden of eden

it's not what it seems

after dining on cassava and honey

i've had these weird dreams

where i don't know if it's trippin

can't tell when it's not

but i can't wait till we're goin

don't need what's forgot

and i've come to think

that this posturing act is a gas

but if someone's gonna fall then I'll pass

cause it really isn't me after all

spent some time in Maupiti

what I remember is thin

Motu One hosts a pleasent reefee

great place for a swim

now i can't see where I'm going

just know where i been

i don't know what I'm saying

but I know what I mean

and i come to think

that this posturing act is a gas

but if someone's gonna fall then I'll pass

cause it really isn't me after all
