Say The Word

(Walrus Gumble cover)

Written in April 2004 by Walrus Gumble a.k.a User, for songfight! Here's the original. I was assigned it as a coverfight challenge in August 2004 and gave it my spin. That Monsieur Gumble put together such a simple, yet universal message about expired/unrequited love gave me a great start. The three levels of delusional hope, self-pity, and mad resentment really came out in the mix, so I blame the muse. Once that was cleared up I just put in a few rolled cymbals and the kalimba. I also did my own version for the original fight.

I used to

 believe that

 true love held

 such power.

 It could break

 through all walls;

 It could climb

 all towers.

 With true love

 came true life:

 the meaning,

 the answer.

And everthing would work out in the end

I guess I

 was stupid,

 was happy,

 was blinded,

 cuz each time

 I think now,

 I'm sorely

 reminded:

 It's not enough

 to be in love.

Don'tcha love it when you heart and your beliefs

all get shot straight down from the sky?

Help me reach the light that I still can barely, barely see.

If you're still in love with me, know that I...

I know you

 still feel it.

 Why won't you

 reveal it?

 Stop hiding

 from yourself.

 No need to

 conceal it.

 And when you said

 you'd always love me,

 I believed.

Don'tcha love it when your heart and your beliefs

all get shot straight down from the sky?

Help me reach the light that I still can barely, barely see.

If you wanna be with me, know that I'm...

Waiting here for you to say the word.

I am waiting here for you to say the word.

Waiting here for you to say the word.

Yes I'm waiting here for you to say the word.

Waiting here for you to say the word.

Waiting here for you to say the word.

Waiting here for you to say the word.

I'm always waiting here for you to say the word.
