Global Digital Photo Network Sought. Photo industry rivals are teaming up on an initiative to establish what they hope will become the ATM-equivalent of a global digital photo printing network. [New York Times: Technology] Been waiting years for this. Fujifilm has had a system in place for a while, but there are virtually no local processors (in NYC no less!) that take part in the offering. Their PictroProof printers are fantastic, and run on distilled water (woo...). I believe their Frontier minilab systems are based on the same technology.

World Cup fans miffed at TiVo, Sonicblue. CNET Jun 17 2002 6:53PM ET [Moreover - moreover...] OK, they're still working out some of these things. The tough thing is that your Tivo must dial into their network every night to update itself. How will it know to dial in at the last moment? I says its called "onboard NIC". The new boxes have 100Bt ports, as do ReplayTVs. For those of us with always-on internet, this is no problem. Otherwise it'll just be more frequent dial-ins.
