I saw her there
she was lunching with others
they're not the same as she is, nor I
I saw her wave
then cover her actions
as if to say leave me here, just try

She always played
with my heart, she's so teasing
I let her win, never knowing quite why
she really wants...
I know she needs me
I'll let her in when the others say good bye

Audrey Hepburn
I knew her like family
Audrey Hepburn
She loved me so dear
Audrey Hepburn
pretended, ignored me
but we had this thing going
to me it was clear

She told me (from the screen)
I got her excited
she told me (with her eyes)
I got her inspired
she told me (with her tears)
she couldn't face the camera
she couldn't play the part
till she got my kick start

You can tell me till you're blue in the face
You can tell me we're still in the same place
You can make it sound
Like we're on solid ground
But then what's all this water around for now?

Having difficulty breathing in here
Smoking's banned but they still serve us beer
You can spin a tale
But we need to bail
We're looking down the throat of a whale right now

I say hey!
We're radio ready
It's fast become pay day
I'm sending a may day
This ship's going down

Last time you said that you were glad that I care
You think I'm listening but I'm really not there
my head's ablaze
you're never phased
You'll drown in sorrow it's the way you was raised, oh yeah

There's lots of distance now between us I know
the phone is easy but I just never call, so
we never talked
I'd have sooner walked
to see you smile at the sunset, and rise for the dawn

I say hey!
We're radio ready
It's fast become pay day
I'm sending a may day

For Glenn Case's ongoing "let's make suggestions about what songs would be perfect for other people to record" project. Which keeps us very busy...

Anyway, he's suggested I do this classic from Sgt Peppers.

Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins
Silently closing her bedroom door
Leaving the note that she hoped would say more
She goes downstairs to the kitchen clutching her handkerchief
Quietly turning the back door key
Stepping outside she is free.

She (We gave her most of our lives)
is leaving (Sacrificed most of our lives)
home (We gave her everything money could buy)
She's leaving home after living alone
For so many years. Bye, bye

Father snores as his wife gets into her dressing gown
Picks up the letter that's lying there
Standing alone at the top of the stairs
She breaks down and cries to her husband Daddy our baby's gone
Why would she treat us so thoughtlessly
How could she do this to me.

She (We never thought of ourselves)
is leaving (Never a thought for ourselves)
home (We struggled hard all our lives to get by)
She's leaving home after living alone
For so many years. Bye, bye

Friday morning at nine o'clock she is far away
Waiting to keep the appointment she made
Meeting a man from the motor trade.

She (What did we do that was wrong)
is having (We didn't know it was wrong)
fun (Fun is the one thing that money can't buy)
Something inside that was always denied
For so many years. Bye, bye
She's leaving home. Bye, bye

Not for a day
Not a week, a month or year
Don't speak, I know that this is dear to you
So don't stop looking over your shoulder
It's me, I'm still here and I won't go away
I don't go away

You thought that we'd have fun
You thought this was nice
A summer of love for all the folks at home you know
A future og Hallmark cards and romances
No, that's not how I play
This isn't a game to win or lose
Oh no, I won't walk away

You asked, I said it, I'll live up to it
There's too much superficiality in the world today
Too many people making false claims
I'm here to end it, to keep the faith and make you believe

My Love is Forever
and forever ...
My Love is Forever
Forever, and a day
